Onshore wind

Onshore wind in Australia

Wind power is a critical part of the renewable energy transition, and RWE has extensive experience developing, constructing and operating large scale onshore wind projects.

Globally RWE owns and operates more than 7 GW of onshore wind power and has an Australian onshore wind development pipeline of more than 3.5 GWs across several Australian states.

In August 2023 we announced our first proposed Australian project, the Theodore Wind Farm near Biloela in Queensland. The project will incorporate about 160 turbines and generate up to 1,100 MWs of electricity – enough to power up to 410,000 Queensland homes.

We are also working on the proposed Campbells Bridge Wind Farm, near Stawell, which is planned to have up to 145 turbines, as well as a second project in Queensland which has an expected capacity of about 700 MWs.

RWE’s business model is to develop, own and operate renewable energy projects, which means we will be engaging and working with communities through all stages of the project lifecycle.
