Our development approach

RWE Renewables Australia is more than a developer, we are also proud owners and operators of the projects we develop. We have an exciting pipeline of solar, battery, onshore and offshore wind projects in Australia and offer whole of lifecycle experience, ranging from feasibility and licensing through to construction, operations and decommissioning.

Our parent company’s size, scope and global experience ensures we have the proven ability to develop and drive efficiencies within all stages of the wind, solar and battery lifecycle. We have been instrumental in driving down costs and developing value equations across the industry, by pioneering design and utilisation of innovative technologies, as well as establishing trusted supply chain relationships. Multi-contracting and co-design models have also contributed to cost efficiencies across energy projects.

RWE Australia’s development approach

We have an unwavering commitment to health and safety, fostering a no-compromise safety culture that runs right through the heart of our business. We also work to the highest environmental standards to mitigate risks to the habitats where we work. We achieve this as the result of careful planning, undertaking extensive and complex surveys, and implementing thorough and comprehensive risk assessments.

We have a proactive approach to community development, engagement and support and understand the importance of respecting and working with the communities where our projects are based.

We are committed to supporting local wherever we can, focusing on local supply chains and education and training. We frequently support local education and training facilities, create local employment opportunities, training and apprenticeships. We are also growing the next generation of green energy professionals. As of 2022, 742 young adults were learning a profession with RWE and we continue to provide jobs to a wide range of people.

Our local investment philosophy extends to supporting our project communities through dedicated community benefit funds. For example, our Limondale Solar Farm in NSW established a Community Benefit Fund that commits $40,000 per annum for the life of the project, to assist local community groups, individuals, and charities.
