Welcome to RWE Renewables Australia, the Australian arm of global energy leader RWE Renewables.
With a rich history in the energy sector and more than 125 years leading the industry, the RWE Group entered the Australian market in 2018 with the construction of one of the country’s largest solar farms – the 249 MW Limondale Solar Farm in New South Wales.
RWE Renewables Australia is currently developing an exciting portfolio of wind, solar and battery storage projects across Australia. Our growing team of almost 50 people – based out of the Melbourne head office – is backed by the experience of RWE Renewables’ 5,300 strong team across the European, North American and Asia Pacific regions.
We have a planned gross investment of $6 billion by 2030, to develop up to 3 GW of wind, solar and battery projects across multiple states. We are also committed to investing billions more in offshore wind.
We are working on developing multiple wind projects in Queensland, and have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with energy provider Stanwell to deliver up to 1.8 GW across two projects.
One of these is the proposed Theodore Wind Farm, which is in the early stages of planning and development and is planned to include about 160 turbines and generate up to 1,100 MWs.
Our Limondale project is one of the country’s largest solar farms, and we were recently awarded a Long-Term Energy Service Agreement (LTESA) to deliver and operate Australia’s first eight-hour battery within the existing project site.
RWE is also ready to invest billions of dollars in Australian offshore wind projects, if we are successful in offshore wind auctions.
We have a strong focus on working with and making positive contributions to the communities where our projects are based, as well as being a key driver of Australia’s energy transition.
